Our intent is to provide academy students with a strong academic program that will prepare them for entry into an artistic careers in the creative and performing arts. During their four years VAPA students should plan to participate in 4 credit hours in theatre, dance, music or art courses. While we recommend honors and Advanced Placement courses, all students are also invited and encouraged to participate in the International Baccalaureate Program and the Academy of Finance. Academy faculty and counselors will work to help ensure student success.

Over the past decade, our VAPA program has been open to all DCC students and has been a home and training ground for students who are actively and passionately exploring the exciting worlds of dance, music, theatre, visual arts, and vocal music.

Our beautiful campus is conveniently located in Kensington, Maryland and features fully a equipped theater and small black box stage, a state-of-the-art digital media production lab, bright and inviting dance and art studios, darkroom, and specialized music and art classrooms.

Our Faculty is made up of experienced professionals in their fields who are constantly introducing fresh, exciting, real-life experiences into their classrooms and studio sessions.

With more of our students going on to colleges and conservatories and earning millions of dollars in scholarships each year, college and post-secondary planning and preparation is a top priority. Please see our Alumni Page for more information about our past students.
